Archaeologist
About
I'm an archaeologist and a craftsman. As an archaeologist, I've mainly been involved with fieldwork and research related to the medieval town Sigtuna, Sweden, founded in the late 10th century AD. I'm occasionally working for the Sigtuna Museum and I've been professionally connected to three larger Sigtuna excavations; at the Professorn, the Humlegården and the Trädgårdsmästaren sites. As a craftsman and an archaeologist I've possessed the means to focus intensely on reconstructional and experimental archaeology, studying refractory ceramics and metal casting. Since 1999 I've had the pleasure to cooperate with the Irish bronze casting project Umha Aois (www.umha-aois.com). In recent years, I've also stumbled over the subject of glassmaking and the research fields of Viking means of payment and early Scandinavian minting. During the winter 2012, I'm starting a research project studying remains of silver processing and glass-working from the 11th century mint at the Urmakaren site, Sigtuna, excavated in 1990.
