About

I completed a PhD in Communication Studies at Purdue University, 1998. Spent about a decade within the traditional academic career path, as an Assistant Professor at Virginia Tech and University of Illinois at Chicago, and Associate Professor at University of the Virgin Islands. In 2006, I quit the academic system to write more, travel more, and work in applied information technology design.  Took a job working as a senior development specialist and systems administrator at the Wisconsin State Department of Corrections. Have spent the last three years taking short term research and teaching posts at various universities, including Aarhus University (Denmark), University of Arizona (Tucson), and Umea University (Sweden)
