About
I mainly work on the concretization of labor and capital accumulation processes in urban spaces, thus on 'production of space by human agency'. The period I have mostly worked on is the interwar period. I try to conciliate labor history with business history by way of looking at the deterritorialization of urban spaces and the concominant spatial restructurations. Ford Motor Company's global history sofar facilitated me to pursue this way of 'entangled history'.
This historiographical approach pushes me also toward sociological field studies mostly in industrial and informal districts of Istanbul. Observing Istanbul leads me further to topics like working people's health and precarity. Therein the sector I mainly focus on is the shipbuilding industry.
