Evaluation Manager
About
Atari is the Evaluation Manager at Inspire Foundation, the Australian youth mental health organisation behind the acclaimed ReachOut.com service. He brings over seven years of experience in health promotion program planning, delivery and research that has afforded him the privilege of working directly with young people from diverse communities and life experiences at both a grassroots and population based level. Atari offers specialist expertise in the role of information communication technologies (ICT) in public health, youth participation and peer based health promotion models, and the needs of sexuality, sex and gender diverse populations.
In his current role, Atari has been leading the redevelopment of Inspire’s national evaluation framework, alongside the implementation of evaluation and research projects, including the large scale Annual ReachOut.com National Survey, and Bridging the Digital Divide project, a three year action research initiative focused on developing ICT based mental health promotion programs with marginalised youth across Australia. A highly collaborative project, Bridging the Digital Divide was delivered in partnership with over 80 stakeholders across Australia, and was a finalist in the 2009 and 2010 VicHealth Health Promotion Awards. Atari has presented the findings from these projects at international and national conferences, alongside co-authoring peer-reviewed journal articles, numerous research reports and book chapters over the last four years.
Prior to his work with Inspire Foundation, Atari’s career spanned a variety of sexual health promotion and youth development roles, working directly with young people in both government and non-government organisations, including the Western Australian AIDS Council and the Town of Cambridge Youth Service. Atari currently serves as a member of NSW Ministry of Health Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors at both Suicide Prevention Australia and Twenty10. He has a Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) from Curtin University, where he received the Vice Chancellor’s award three semesters in a row for outstanding academic achievement, graduating in the top 1% of undergraduate students.
