Thesis Title: Pour une théorie de l'adaptation filmique: le film noir américain
About
I currently teach 'Film narratology' at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) and 'Screenplay analysis' at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).
I also teach 'Media Criticism & Theory' and 'Intercultural Communication' at Boston's Emerson College European Center (Netherlands).
My main fields of research cover adaptation studies and narrative studies.
I am interested in the development of a research program for studying (film) adaptation in a descriptive, systemic and historical way, starting with Gideon Toury's initial 'polysystem theories of translation', but learning/borrowing also from more recent findings in several disciplines such as pragmatics, cognitive studies, and philosophy of science.
Within the field of screenplay studies, I work on possible links between narrative studies, intercultural communication studies and practice oriented know how and experience accumulated in screenwriting manuals.
