About
I am an archaeologist working in North Yorkshire, where I manage a consultancy, 'Fern Archaeology'. I am also an illustrator and Honorary Research Associate of the University of York.
My academic interests concern the art and archaeology of the early medieval period. I have published on the funerary traditions of the pre-Christian Anglo-Saxons (AD450-650), including on the Sutton Hoo cemetery, and on the fascinating custom of horse-burial. Currently, I am managing and researching the publication of the most recent excavation at Sutton Hoo (Tranmer House, 2000), in collaboration with the British Museum and on behalf of the National Trust.
