About
Archivist, Historian and Activist.
I recently finished a PhD dissertation on early San Francisco history. My dissertation chair is Catherine Albanese at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
My second Master's is an MLIS in Archives Management from Simmons College in Boston. I served as an archivist at Harvard Medical School before taking my current position in 2007 overseeing the Stanford Medical History Center.
My interest is in considering the ways in which three things can be connected:
a) managing collections of historical evidence
b) writing history
c) helping policy makers and activists use history to make decisions about goals and strategies
In particular, I am interested in the ways in which the connection of these three things may assist in the further development of San Francisco, California as a politically progressive city.
