About
Born in 1981, Hadrien Rambach is a French citizen, who has specialised in antiquity and ancient art, particularly in coins and gemstones. Having lived in Paris most of his life, he decided in 2003 to move to England, and pursue a career dealing in the objects that interest him most. He is now living in Kensington, London, and travels frequently in Europe. He has built up a large library on his fields – mainly glyptic –, and conducts active researches, which leads him to write high-quality descriptions.
He started his own business in 2006. Since then he has acted as a private advisor to several important collectors of ancient coins, medals and antiquarian books, but he is also very interested in glyptic, that being intaglios & cameos cut in semi-precious stones from the Ancient through the Renaissance to the Neo-Classical period. He has acted as an intermediary for clients at major sales of Works of Art. In parallel with these activities, he has published a number of essays in academic journals (see infra), and has recently become a member of the Syndicat de la Presse Artistique Française. He has taken part in various academic conferences in recent years, addressing the public on subjects such as collecting, 17th and 18th century numismatic literature, and engraved gemstones.
Hadrien Rambach is a member of the following learned societies: the Société Française de Numismatique, the Royal Numismatic Society, the British Numismatic Society, the London Numismatic Club, the Société Suisse de Numismatique, the Société d’Études Numismatiques et Archéologiques, the Bayerische Numismatische Gesellschaft, and the Society of Jewellery Historians. He is also a member of the French section of the Europäische Totentanzvereinigung, and a Friend of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
