Working overseas - Getting out of that academic rut
Wednesday, December 28, 2011
One of the ways to get out of your academic rut is to travel - whether on sabbatical or by doing cultural or teaching exchanges. Dr. G. Michael Schneider shares different ways to explore the world and get out of your academic rut in his book, On the Other Guy's Dime. He details ways to work and teach overseas, learn about other people and cultures, and become better educators. He offers tips on finding overseas opportunities, as well as details that are important (including family travel and tips for the non-working spouse). It's a must-read for any academic that is looking to switch things up a bit and re-energize - as well as explore the world.
We interviewed Dr. Schneider about his book here:

What do you think? Have you taken breaks from your campus and worked overseas? Did you take your family? How did it energize you?
