Main area of research is into 4th - 7th centuries (A.D.) textile production techniques of northern Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. Recently diverged into tracing breeds of sheep and possible cross-breeding/introduction of Norwegian breeds (Spaelsau, Finnish Landrace, etc.) resulting in the development of what we know today as Faeroe, Shetland, Orkney, Icelandic.
