About
I have a B.Sc degree in Microbiology from the University of Pune, Maharashtra, India, and an M.Sc degree in Biodiversity from the same University. I pursued both, my B.Sc and M.Sc at Department of Microbiology, Abasaheb Garware College, Pune, affiliated to University of Pune.
For my M.Sc dissertation project me and 3 other colleagues carried out docummentation of diversity, folk knowledge, and nutritional values of 'wild edible plants' around two small villages in the Northern Western Ghats about 50 km from the city of Pune, Maharashtra, India.
After completing my M.Sc in May 2007 I worked for 14 months at National Center for Biological Sciences, TIFR, Bangalore as a research asisstant under Dr. Suhel Quader. The worked involved studying the brood parasitism of the House Crow by the Asian Koel. This work was carried out at Rishi Valley School, Andhra Pradesh, India. Also a long term phenology monitoring program for various plant species was also set up at the same location.
Currently I am working in Pune at Vasudha Research as a research asisstant under Dr. Vasant Gowariker on a project which involves preparing a Pesticide Encyclopedia. The project is funded by the Government of India. The encyclopedia aims at providing a global scale knowledge about different kinds of pesticides including new pest management techniques like biological control and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The encyclopedia is being prepared in a way that it will be useful for a wide range of users like plant pathologists, entomologists, farmers, chemists, researchers in agriculture, teachers as well as the common man. My work primarily involves at gathering information, filtering it and writing about important insect pest groups with important examples and also looking at biological control and IPM techniques for these pests.
Other interests include trekking, hiking, adventure sports, nature photography, gardening, music, arts and crafts, food, pets etc..
I will be trying to secure a PhD position in Ecology and I am also thinking about business ideas related to my interests.
