Lucia Vesnic-Alujevic has recently obtained PhD in Communication Sciences from Ghent University. She has been a member of the working group Cinema and Media Studies at the Department of Communication Science, Ghent University since February 2009. Previously, she had studied French language and literature, professional master studies in Political parties and elections and research master studies in Communication Science at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. During her studies, she was a fellow of German foundation Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. She had been working as journalist and translator (translation of a book Seguela J., Le vertige des urnes) and in 2008 she was a trainee at the European Parliament (DG Internal Policies), with the Robert Schuman fellowship.
Her current research focuses on political communication and political marketing on the Internet. She is mostly interested in the application of social media, as a part of political marketing strategies in Europe. Her PhD research is funded by European Commission's Erasmus Mundus external cooperation window project called Basileus.
