2011 - Secretary of the 30th UISPP Commission - Mortuary Practices in Prehistory and Protohistory.

My main scientific interests regard the Iron Age archaeology of the Balkan Peninsula, especially the funerary practices, tumuli graves, Hellenistic funerary architecture, funerary landscapes, construction of prehistoric identities, cultural and ethnic mixture on the Black Sea shores, relations between Thracians, Scythians and Greeks, center periphery relations between North and South Thrace.
I have been working as field archaeologist since 2002. I took part in over 50 archaeological campaigns in numerous sites across Romania. I am member in the scientific teams of the following excavations:
• Mangalia-Movila Documaci, Constanţa county, Romania (4th-3rd centuries BC, tumulus tomb)
• Teliţa-Celic Dere, Tulcea county, Romania (7th – 3rd centuries BC, tumuli and flat necropolis, settlement)
• Cârlomăneşti, Buzău county, Romania (2nd -1st centuries BC, hillfort)
• Pietroasa Mică-Gruiu Dării, Buzău county, Romania (4th – 3rd centuries BC, 2nd century BC – 2nd century AD, settlement, sacred enclosure)
• Băile Figa-Beclean, Bistriţa Năsăud county, Romania (Bronze Age, Iron Age, prehistoric salt exploitation)
• Piscul Crasani, Ialomita county, Romania – (1st century BC – 1st century AD Dacian dava)
• Capidava, Constanta county, Romania – Roman-Byzantine fortress and surrounding territory
• Tarcov,Buzau county, Romania - (1st century BC – 1st century AD Dacian fortress)
I have also participated in the topographic survey, landscape analysis, GIS integration and geophysical prospection of over 150 archaeological sites from Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and Hungary.
My current projects
• the publication of my PhD thesis – Tumuli Graves at the Lower Danube, 5th-3rd centuries BC
• publication (together with Dan Stefan) of the 2005-2009 excavations in the Late Iron Age hillfort from Carlomanesti – The fortification System.
• Analysis of the tumuli landscape in Dobrogea in relation with prehistoric and ancient roads
• Comparative study between Macedonian and Thracian funerary customs in the 5th-2nd centuries BC.
