Dr Robert E. Stansfield read History at the University of Lancaster (UK), and has also studied at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark). At the University of Lancaster, he has taught modules on British and European history ranging from the late-antique to the early-modern periods. He is a Member of the Royal Historical Society, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Research Interests
Dr Stansfield's research focuses on the political history of late-medieval and early-modern Britain, including issues of governance, identities, and the royal court, household, and affinity. In particular, his research concentrates on the Wars of the Roses and the reigns of the Yorkists and Tudors. In addition, his interest in local history has led to research on Lancashire during the early-modern period.
