Sharon completed her PhD on Barbadian tuk music at the Centre for Caribbean Studies, University of Warwick, England and continues to research Caribbean fife and drum musics. She is also interested in the relationship between music and identity; the revival of traditional musics as popular culture in postcolonial contexts; the Celtic connections of Caribbean musics; and the use of traditional musics in touris.
