About
I received my B.S. in computer science from the University of Maryland and a M.S. in computer science from the University of Central Florida. I completed my Ph.D. in Modeling and Simulation from the University of Central Florida where I developed a virtual environment evaluation tool to measure holistic experiences. This was used to study the feeling of presence that game players felt when playing games with different features.
I have worked on a variety of game design projects ranging from cognitive skill games to an educational game for teaching students about clinical trials. I have also worked in the design and implementation of simulation projects including a virtual after-action review system, automated trainee performance metrics, a first-person shooter game proficiency evaluator, and a science museum exhibit for visualizing hurricane damage to homes.
My interests lie in human-system interactions within virtual environments and the design of learning and training games.
I am currently a research scientist at Intelligent Automation, Inc., a R&D company located Rockville, Maryland.
