About
My interest/reading generally falls in the social studies of scientific imaging and visualisation and basic Radiology/Radiography education, particularly in the training of undergraduate diagnosticans in and around medical images.
I attempt to begin a new stream of research considering ‘undergraduate’ experiences during image interpretation (normality vs. abnormality) to foster appropriate reflective learning, a research field that has been neglected until now. This will establish the dimension of ‘student epistemology’ in medical imaging previously ignored.
My Ph.D project will aim to examine how Yr 5 Medical and Yr 3 Radiography Students learn to interpret X-rays, and how they apply this combination of knowledge and skills in their first year of work.
