Statistics, variables and equations, and concepts such as energy, force and field tell us nothing about the architectures of light, the atom, and the Universe. The mathematical theories of General and Special Relativity and of Classical and Quantum Mechanics deal exclusively with relations and concepts, and are therefore powerless to describe the shape of physical objects. To discern the architecture of an invisible entity we must merely venture an assumption and logically check whether the proposal explains observation. Pursuant to this method, we
show architectures of light, the atom, and the Universe rebuff the abstractions (photon, wave, duality, wave-packet, etc.) inferred by Classical and Quantum Mechanics.

The black hole and dark matter are two pillars of contemporary General Relativity. Week after week, we read about them in the specialized journals and in popularization magazines. Here we show that the term 'black hole' has yet to be defined scientifically. To pique the skeptic, mathematical physicists assign many dimensions to the black hole, confess that they have never seen one, and have no idea what these alleged objects are made of. For its part, dark matter is nothing more than an ad hoc variable that Mathematical Physics invented to plug holes in its leaky conception of gravity. The Rope Model of Light and Gravity offers a rational alternative for phenomena attributed to magical black holes and invisible dark matter.

There is a set of properties that a theory must address in order to explain the magical, invisible, action-at-a-distance phenomenon of attraction and repulsion between two magnets. Here we show that of the entities proposed to date only the Rope Hypothesis can physically simulate all of them.

Different cultures around the world have independently discovered time in antiquity and developed calendars and clocks to measure this mysterious unknown. We say 'mysterious' because to this day no one has defined what 'time' is or means. Yet Mathematical Physics, particularly Special and General Relativity, are founded on time; neither can do without this strategic term. Time dilation is one of the three pillars of Special Relativity and the dimension of time is the fourth leg of General Relativity's ubiquitous space-time. What is it that theoreticians are stretching? What are they warping? Is time a dimension? Is it legal to replace height with time on a Cartesian chart and turn it into a Feynman diagram? And if time was born at the Big Bang, what is it that came to life? What does the babe look like? A closer analysis reveals that time is not a dimension. We discover that time cannot do without an observer. More fundamentally, we discover that unless we define this enigmatic word we will never understand what anyone who uses it is talking about.

The wave model of light was born in the 17 th Century and was quickly abandoned in favor of the old Corpuscular Hypothesis on the strength of Newton's authority. It flourished again in the 19 th Century only to be eclipsed once again by the Corpuscular Hypothesis at the turn of the century. The participants at the 5 th Solvay Conference reached a compromise in 1926 and finally merged the wave and the corpuscle into an unfathomable concoction known as 'wave-packet'. This is the official model today, but now it rests on the authority of Niels Bohr. However, the Wave-Packet Hypothesis is not about architecture. The mathematical establishment has turned the argument upside down and incongruously states that light 'behaves' as a wave or as a particle depending on the circumstances. There is, therefore, no formal physical configuration of light in Mathematical Physics that a theorist can challenge. Many in the establishment even argue that a mediator is unnecessary and dispose of one entirely in their talks. We compare the wave, particle, field, and wave-packet models championed by Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, and General Relativity against the Rope Hypothesis to underscore that a new paradigm has emerged in the centuries-old debate.

Physics has evolved from an attempt by ancient researchers to understand the workings of their immediate surroundings to a body of mathematical descriptions and paradoxical physical interpretations. We have today no rational explanation for the simplest of systems and phenomena, for instance, how a magnet physically attracts another from a distance or by what physical means the Earth prevents the Moon from leaving the Solar System. Not one mathematical physicist can explain in a logical manner why a pen falls to the floor rather than to the ceiling. The equations suggest that 'mass attracts mass' or that 'north attracts south', but these are mere descriptions. They give us no insight as to the physical mechanisms underlying such phenomena. We trace these shortcomings to the nature of the scientific method inherited primarily from 17 th Century researchers. We argue, in essence, that the current version of the scientific method is divorced from authentic Science. Here we propose an alternative – henceforth known as the Rational Scientific Method (capitalized to distinguish it from what is currently regarded as such) – and outline the steps necessary to present rational explanations for physical phenomena.

As the Agriculture, Manufacturing, and Service Sectors continue to shed workers in a bid to reduce costs, this inevitably feeds Unemployment. A global economic regime in which an ever decreasing pool of workers subsidizes an ever growing army of unemployed is axiomatically unsustainable and conduces to system breakdown. That fateful day, profit-minded agricultural corporations will have no further incentive to produce food or deliver it to the cities.

Mainstream proposes that catastrophic and environmental mechanisms such as extraterrestrial impacts, supernovas, volcanism, super-plumes, earthquakes, and climate change trigger mass extinctions. Here we argue that such extrinsic agents cannot in and of themselves account for these periodic disasters. The common denominator of all mass extinctions is starvation. By definition a mass extinction is the disappearance of an entire food chain. Therefore, the Third Horseman plays a central yet inconspicuous role in any mass extinction theory; no theory can do without him. We propose that a mass extinction occurs when the Ecological Pyramid overturns, reversing the quantitative relation between trophic levels. This is what Man is about to experience. The gradual, inevitable and irreversible slowing down of global economic growth conduces to a dead end for our species. The complete disintegration of our global economy results in spiralling layoffs and the end of money. Agricultural companies no longer have pecuniary incentives to produce essentials or to distribute them to the masses. Billions of unemployed find themselves stranded in cities, towns and villages with nothing to eat. Man's Ecological Pyramid overturns on him just like it did on the dinosaurs. Technology and intelligence are powerless to resist these imminent events; neither serves as an antidote to extinction.

—Classical and Quantum Mechanics invoke waves, wave-packets and particles to provide physical interpretations to electromagnetic phenomena. However, these illustrations are neither supposed to be taken literally nor are they advertised as genuinely depicting the real world. Their sole purpose is to represent invisible interactions classically in order to provide a measure of physicality to the mathematical descriptions. It is thus that certain experiments are simulated with extended waves and others with discrete wave-packets. Duality raises questions as to the ad hoc nature of the representation and to the usefulness of abstractions as didactic and explanatory tools. Here we suggest that light has been misdiagnosed. We propose an alternative model that provides a faithful physical interpretation to the fundamental properties of light. We replace the electromagnetic wave with a two-strand rope and simulate the wave-packet as a torsion propagating from atom to atom along this twined entity. The fundamental assumption is that all atoms in the Universe are interconnected. The rope hypothesis justifies and simulates basic features and behaviors of light such as straightness, speed, and orthogonality, and merges light with gravity into a single mechanism.

The Rope Hypothesis is an illustrated book that brings you up to speed on a different way of visualizing the workings of the Universe. It proposes an alternative physical interpretation for invisible phenomena such as light, gravity, magnetism, electricity, and the workings of the atom. The world of one-way particles and waves proposed by Mathematical Physics is replaced by an interconnected world of atoms where light is mediated by torquing, bi-directional, DNA-like ropes. The underlying assumption is the Single Thread. If we were to unravel all matter in existence we would end up with a closed-loop thread. This is all there is.
