Analysis on Propagation Properties of Plasma Channel Antenna

In this paper,a laser plasma channel antenna for high power microwave weapon is presented.The con... more In this paper,a laser plasma channel antenna for high power microwave weapon is presented.The concrete realization method of this antenna is simply described.The approximation electromagnetic model of PCA is created based on the operating principle of this antenna.The wave equations are started with the longitudinal components in cylindrical coordinate system.The relations between the transverse components and longitudinal ones of electromagnetic fields in cylindrical coordinate are given.The strictest characteristic equations of nonmagnetic and magnetic PCA are deduced separately by applying the boundary conditions of electromagnetic fields.In the limit cases,the results of this paper are consistent with those given in the literature's,which shows that the results of this paper are correct and effective.Finally,the dispersive curves of nonmagnetic and magnetic PCA are calculated,it has set up a solid foundation for practical application of the antenna.

The cylindrical dipole antenna with a lumped resistive loading is considered as a radiator of ult... more The cylindrical dipole antenna with a lumped resistive loading is considered as a radiator of ultra-wideband short-pulses.Specifically,the distribution and value of the resistance along the dipole antenna are proposed by Wu and King(Wu-King profile).This antenna is analyzed by using the finitedifference time-domain(FDTD) method.The electromagnetic field in the space surrounding the antenna is determined as a function of time,which can be used to calculate the current waveforms on the antenna,time-varying field in the far zone,and some important time domain parameters for describing the performance of the antenna.Graphical displays of these results are used to provide physical insight into the transient radiation processes of this antenna.

In this study, a super-resolution imaging method is proposed that combines the physical propertie... more In this study, a super-resolution imaging method is proposed that combines the physical properties of a left-handed medium (LHM) slab and the mathematical methods of a neural network. Firstly, for the problem of super-resolution information loss in the received scattering field in general scenes, the LHM slab is used to construct a perfect lens to recover the evanescent wave component that carries super-resolution information. Secondly, the compressed sensing (CS) method is applied to image the sparse targets under the LHM environment. However, the perfect focus only occurs in spot or line positions. Therefore, the imaging width of conventional methods is limited and a more powerful mathematical method is needed. Finally, the neural network method is introduced to relax the limitations of target imaging width due to its strong non-linear fitting capability. In this letter, a fast algorithm based on domain decomposition and machine learning is proposed f... more In this letter, a fast algorithm based on domain decomposition and machine learning is proposed for radio wave propagation over complex terrain. In this approach, equivalence surfaces (ESs) with the same size are arranged based on the distribution of obstacles; thus, the impact of each obstacle on the radio wave propagation can be expressed by the input and output equivalent electromagnetic currents (EEMCs) on the ESs. Due to the presence of dielectric ground, the full wave calculation process involves the discrete complex image method in the PMCHW equation. Deep learning is introduced to complete the complex process of determining the output EEMCs from input EEMCs on ESs to accelerate the calculation. Considering scattering field coupling between multiple terrains, we iterate the scattering fields generated by the interaction between ESs until convergence occurs. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is in good agreement with the Method of Moments approach, and its computational speed is significantly improved, demonstrating that the proposed method has high efficiency and good generalization ability.

To improve the imaging accuracy in solving inverse scattering problems with mixed boundary condit... more To improve the imaging accuracy in solving inverse scattering problems with mixed boundary conditions, the authors propose an inverse scattering imaging method based on a physics‐inspired neural network. First, the contrast source inversion and the T‐matrix method are unified to establish a combined parameter model, in which the characteristics of perfect electric conductor and dielectric scatterers are represented by the T‐matrix coefficients t and the dielectric contrast respectively. Considering the influence of singularity of conductor contrast, the PEC region and the DIE contrast are reconstructed separately. Then, an alternative parameter updating neural network method, called APU‐Net, is proposed to update the contrast of dielectric scatterers and the T‐matrix of perfect electric conductor scatterers alternately. The experimental results demonstrate the strong performance of APU‐Net for inverse scattering imaging of PEC‐DIE hybrid targets as well as its improved generalisation ability over existing methods.

The detection and false alarm probabilities for multisensor system are explicitly defined for the first time, and a calculation example and computer simulations are provided, which demonstrates that the agreement between the theoretical analysis and computer simulations is excellent.

A coupled surface-volume integral equation approach is presented for analysis of arbitrarily shap... more A coupled surface-volume integral equation approach is presented for analysis of arbitrarily shaped microstrip antennas on finite ground substrate. The method is more universal than traditional MoM. The basis functions defined in pairs of tetrahedral volume elements (SWG) and on pairs of triangular patches (RWG) are used to represent the unknown currents in dielectric cells and on conductive patches respectively. Formulas for calculating the Z-matrix in MoM are provided in detail. In particular, the boundary condition of conductor-dielectric interface is satisfied by adding a Delta Z-matrix to Z-matrix. Numerical results of three typical microstrip antennas show the validity of the method in this paper.

In different directions of the main beam of a log-periodic dipole antenna (LPDA) array, the excitation for maximum gain is calculated programmed by Matlab. The characteristics of the array under optimized excitation are obtained, and the array is proved to have better capability. The database established can be instructional on further study of LPDA arrays.

In order to solve the problems existing in the current antenna for high power microwave weapon, t... more In order to solve the problems existing in the current antenna for high power microwave weapon, the idea of laser guiding electromagnetic pulse (EMP) is presented. The concrete realization method of the idea is simply described. The near electromagnetic model of laser guiding EMP is created based on the operating principle. The vector potential functions are introduced, the dispersive equations of modes for laser guiding EMP is deduced by applying the boundary conditions of electromagnetic fields, and their relevant approximate solutions are given. The normal modes of laser guiding EMP in lossy gas are analyzed, particularly for the variations of their propagation properties with plasma parameters and surrounding material. The limit results of this paper are consistent with that given in literature’s. This analysis shows that the propagation of laser guiding EMP can be controlled by choosing proper plasma frequency.

In this paper, the method of moments and discrete complex image theory are used to calculate the ... more In this paper, the method of moments and discrete complex image theory are used to calculate the impedance matrix of the horizontal log-periodic antennas over ground plane. The microwave network theory is applied to deal with the excitation, and then we could obtain its distribution current of the antennas. At last, we calculate the radiation pattern with the saddle-point method. The result obtained is consistent with some literature about it, which confirms the correctness and the universality of this method.
